Buttocks Augmentation by Implants - Submuscular and Subfascial

Buttocks implants are soft, but much stronger than breast implants, and they are made of an elastomer, so they can't leak. Depending on your figure and your desire, Dr. Roberts will work with you to select the size that is best for you. The incision is 2-3 inches, and is hidden in the crease between the buttocks. There are two primary options for Buttocks Implants: Buttocks can be placed either submuscular (intra-muscular) or sub-fascial.

Submuscular buttocks implants

Submuscular (Intra-Muscular) buttocks implants:
If you want more fullness in the upper half of your buttocks, Dr. Roberts uses an implant that is specially made to be placed inside the gluteus maximus buttocks muscle. The photo at the right shows an ideal candidate for intra/submuscular buttocks implants. She as some fullness in the lower buttocks but wants more in the upper buttocks, and she doesn't have enough fat for micro fat grafting. As you can see from the post-op photos, the implants give her a sexy fullness that looks (and feels!) very natural. Note: Sub-muscular buttocks implants can only be put in the upper half of the buttock, so they don;t help if you're flat in the lower half of the buttocks.

Subfascial buttocks implants

Subfascial buttocks implants:
If you want more fullness in the lower half of your buttocks, Dr. Roberts usually recommends sub-fascial placement of a special buttock implant designed just for this use In this technique, the implant is placed between the gluteus muscle and its overlying strong covering tissue (fascia). This space is larger than the space inside the muscle. So a larger implant can be used with this technique. Note: This buttocks implant gives great fullness to the lower half of the buttocks, but does almost nothing for the upper half.
The photo at the right shows an ideal candidate for subfascial buttocks augmentation (implants). She is very happy with the significant increase in fullness in the mid & lower buttocks - and the scar is completely invisible in the crease between the buttocks.

The Perfect Candidate - Buttock Implants are best for patients: 1.)who do not have enough extra body fat available to use for Micro Fat Grafting, or 2.) who only want extra fullness in the upper part of the buttocks, or 3.) who want a lot of extra fullness, more than the fat available.

Recovery - You will need to stay in town 14 days to be sure you are healing well before traveling. There will be some discomfort, but you will have medication for this. You can resume sedentary activity in two weeks and unlimited activity in 6 weeks.
